About our guest:
Arlene Tjoarman is a resilient breast cancer survivor originally from Southern California. In February 2019, during her second year of graduate school in Michigan, Arlene was diagnosed with stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma, characterized as 15% ER positive. Far from her family and friends, she navigated this challenging period with the support of her classmates, whom she barely knew when she began the program. Her journey began when she discovered a lump during a routine school doctor checkup, leading to her diagnosis. Despite the initial shock and isolation, Arlene's steadfast spirit enabled her to overcome cancer while pursuing her academic goals.
